B-B-E Resistance Robotics gearing up for Great Northern Regional (VIDEO)

The Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa Resistance Robotics team has been preparing for their 2025 season F.I.R.S.T. competitions since this year's challenge was unveiled on January 4. In the attached video, team members and Coach Reed Adrian are shown working on the robot's wiring at the high school shop on March 6.

B-B-E's first of two robotics competitions this year is the Great Northern Regional, which is hosted by the Alerus Center in Grand Forks on March 12-15. The second is the Granite City Regional, which is coming on April 2-5 at the River's Edge Conference Center in St. Cloud.

F.I.R.S.T. is the acronym for For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology, a global non-profit organization that prepares young people for the future through a set of team-based robotics programs for children ages 4 to 18. They are suitable for schools or structured afterschool activities who receive support from a network of volunteers, educators and donors. This includes over 200 Fortune 500 companies.

The 2025 F.I.R.S.T. competition is called REEFSCAPE, presented by Haas, where teams use their engineering skills to strengthen one of the ocean’s most diverse habitats. The game is explained as follows, "Beneath the ocean’s surface lies our planet’s most complex ecosystems, full of life and potential for exploration and learning, where each inhabitant has a role to play in building a thriving environment. During the 2024-2025 FIRST season, teams will use their STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) and collaboration skills to explore life beneath the surface of the ocean. Along the way, we’ll uncover the potential in each of us to strengthen our community and innovate for a better world with healthy oceans."
