The Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa wrestling team will send four student athletes to the Class 1A state individual tournament. Three of the four earned Section 5A titles, while the other was runner-up at the state-qualifying tournament held on Saturday, February 22 at Yellow Medicine East in Granite Falls.
Advancing to state as section champions are seniors Brett DeRoo (160 pounds), Carson Gilbert (215) and Hunter Laage (285). Noah Jensen, an eighth grader, advanced to state as the Section 5A 107-pound runner-up.
The Class 1A individual state tournament runs Friday and Saturday, February 28 and March 1, at Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.
