Fire Safety Week was recognized at B-B-E schools in the week of October 6 to October 12
On October 10, members of the Brooten and Belgrade fire departments spoke to Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa elementary students on topics presented to them during Fire Prevention Week. This was held the week of October 7-11 at schools across the United States. After the entire campus held a fire drill, with all children and staff exiting the building and gathering near the bus garage and north shed, fire fighters met in classrooms with different age groups.
In the attached video, Brooten Fire Chief Mark Torkelson speaks to students about the difficulties a fire fighter would face when entering a home attempting to rescue a person, whether it's an adult or a child.
