The Bonanza Valley Days celebration in Brooten is officially underway. The big four-day event in Brooten kicked off with a picture-perfect Worship in the Park on the evening of Thursday, July 11, in the marvelous setting of the Brooten city park. It all felt perfect with great singing from a group of children plus insightful scripture and music playing by Pastor Jeanne Megorden and Deacon Brenda Handel-Johnson, respectively. The two worked together to provide an outstanding, heartfelt ecumenical worship. The Brooten community thanks them for their contribution to helping get BVD off to a great start!
In a sign of just how impressive the night was, they ran out of cookies afterwards! That is hopefully a sign of more to come. (Yes, they got a second batch of cookies from RJ's Mini Mart so no one was left out.) Fortunately, Stony Creek Dairy of Spring Hill donated ample milk, so that did not run out!
Leading up to BVD Worship in the Park, the weekly Brooten Farmers Market was held at the city park right along Highway 55. They also received a great level of interest from the public and thank everyone for their support. The Brooten Farmers Market will run weekly on Thursdays from 4 to 7 p.m. until approximately October 1 depending on how the fall pans out for produce growers. Please pass the word!

BVD has three more days!
The BVD garage sales continue on Friday, July 12. Also, the BVD pickle ball tournament starts on Friday morning at the city park tennis courts, and the BVD Youth Baseball tournament starts at 8 a.m. at the elementary diamond and the city park diamond (third and fourth grade 10U squads). In Belgrade, the high school diamonds will host the 5th-6th grade (12U) baseball tournament.
There's much more to come for BVD 2024. You can see images of the BVD poster by clicking here: https://shorturl.at/64H18.
Friday update: the first annual BVD Pickle Ball tournament was a success! They had a 10-team bracket, which worked out great as they wrapped up before noon before the heat really kicked in. As of Friday afternoon, vendors are starting to fill out the city park. We have a wonderful Day II of BVD underway!
