Day two of Bonanza Valley Days in Brooten was just about as good as it could get. The sun shined hot all day long (yes, it felt quite hot) as the town was crawling with people for numerous events.
The first (hopefully annual) BVD Pickle Ball tournament had 10 teams participating at the city park tennis courts. Their tournament lasted about 2 1/2 hours and wrapped up before the heat started to really kick in.
The BVD Craft and Vendor Show drew 30 units to the Brooten city park beginning early in the afternoon.
The BVD Art in the Park event, held with the support of the Belgrade Library, had a terrific and surprising turnout of 63 children during their two-hour event in the afternoon at the city park.
Also seeing strong support was the Brooten Fire Department, which served north of 500 at their chicken BBQ supper. The LifeLink III helicopter landed during the chicken BBQ at the city park softball field.
Additional notes will be posted to this web article on Saturday, July 14. The attached video features the LifeLink III helicopter landing at the city park softball field during the chicken BBQ.
Action continues starting with the BVD Car and Tractor Show (8 a.m. to noon) on Saturday, July 14 in downtown Brooten.
Saturday, July 12 BVD update:
A rain storm dampened the start of the morning, but most events took place, including the car truck and tractor show. The show drew at least 30 cars and trucks and about a dozen tractors, which was a great turnout considering the rain. Rainfall was heavy at times before 10 a.m., but the forecast says it should clear up by 11 a.m.

Saturday night update:
The Saturday night activities are hot and heavy! It is super, super humid outside, but as it appears, we have a very low chance of seeing severe weather tonight. The Brooten community is grateful for the tremendous support for BVD! It is really something special.
