Bonanza Valley Days is July 11, 12, 13 and 14 (VIDEO)

The four-day Bonanza Valley Days celebration is coming on Thursday through Sunday, July 11, 12, 13 and 14. The attached video features a glimpse of the cotton candy machine that was working hard at the BVD craft and vendor show a year ago.

A few intial notes: the BVD Sand Volleyball tournament has been filled up. Also, the BVD Youth 3-on-3 tournament has been cancelled due to low registration numbers. Also! The BVD pickleball tournament is experiencing low registration numbers. They can accommode many more teams! Please contact Superintendent Patrick Walsh to register: pwalsh@bbejaguars.org.

The new batch of Bonanza Valley Days T-shirts are on sale at the Bonanza Valley State Bank, Jana Mae's Shed, Jenniges Meats and the Busy Beehive of Brooten. The cost is $20. For children, the BVD youth T-shirts will go on sale next week with a limited supply.

Other BVD updates and random notes

The Local Pantry of Brooten will serve free root beer floats and ice cream on Saturday, July 13 at their location as part of the Bonanza Valley Days celebration. They will serve from 1 to 4 p.m. and be done just in time for the start of the BVD kids pedal pull competition, which will be held on main street by the KaDe Shack.

The Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa wrestling club will hold the BVD Walk/Run event on Saturday, July 13 starting at the St. Donatus Catholic Church on Roe Street. Anyone with questions about the BVD Walk/Run can call Shanda Anderson.

On Saturday, July 13, the B-B-E Jaguars fastpitch team will operate a food stand out of the Booster Club trailer in downtown Brooten. They raised considerable funds last year that went to major improvements at the varsity diamond in Brooten. They hope to repeat that this year and thank everyone in advance for their support! BVD 2024 will include numerous food options throughout the weekend. A special BVD food article will be posted to this website on Thursday, July 11.

BVD kiddie parade is Saturday, July 13

Parents and grandparents! Don't forget to get organized and prepared for the BVD kiddie parade, which will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 13 starting at the Trinity Lutheran parking lot. The parade will then run west down Hatton Street towards the Brooten Pavilion. Lakeland Media of Willmar is offering the grand prize. Details forthcoming!

BVD grand parade is Sunday, July 14

The BVD grand parade for 2024 is shaping up to be one of the biggest and best parades Brooten has seen in many, many years. This will start at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 13 with parade staging to take place on the west side of town near the elementary school and along Railway Avenue. To enter the parade, please e-mail Shelley Leuze at: sleuze2@gmail.com. On Saturday, July 13, the "rough draft" of the BVD grand parade lineup will be posted to this website. A final draft will then be seen at that same web article after last-minute edits on the morning of the parade.

BVD Vendor Show is Friday and Saturday, July 12-13 at the city park

Contact Tiana Solbreken via email to register for the vendor show on the western edge of Brooten, which is on Friday and Saturday of BVD weekend....generally 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday with set up on Friday afternoon. Her email is: solbrekentiana@gmail.com. As of July 1, the Vendor Show has about 25 vendors signed up! This is great!
