Year by year after the pandemic, the Belgrade Lions has built up the annual chili cook-off contest as a fundraiser for the B-B-E Area Food Shelf.
This year, with a total of eight different parties providing chili, the Belgrade Lions was thrilled to have 93 individuals participate in the contest. They raised over $200 in loose donations to go with the $465 raised from the contest participants. Once all donations are tallied, a final announcement will be made in an upcoming newspaper issue with what this event raised for the food shelf.
First place was earned by Team Robert and Kristen Pattinson; in second was Arlen Anderson and his daughter Michelle; and in third place was the Brooten Fire Department. The traveling trophy for the fire departments was won by Paynesville.
