B-B-E Resistance Robotics competing at Great Northern Regional

This is a big week for the Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa Resistance Robotics team, as they are competing in their only regional of the 2024 season. They are in Grand Forks this weekend (March 6 to March 9) for the Great Northern Regional at the Alerus Center. This year's F.I.R.S.T. (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) competition is titled "Crescendo" with a playing field set up with a nod to music. The theme's description says the purpose is to "Orchestrate engineering skills and creative power to entertain and move the world in an exhilarating new challenge."

The purpose of FIRST Robotics is to advance the education of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math education. Under strict rules and limited time and resources, teams of high school students are challenged to build industrial-size robots to play a difficult field game in alliance with other teams, while also fundraising to meet their goals, designing a team “brand,” and advancing respect and appreciation for STEM within the local community.

The attached video features a glimpse of the robotics practice held in the high school's CTE lab on February 28. The "shooter" was working with great precision that evening.

The Bonanza Valley Voice will be covering part of the region competition in Grand Forks in person! You can take in updates at the newspaper's Jaguars Sports extended coverage blog at this link: https://rb.gy/g6u79h.
