Norway Lake Lutheran Historical Association remembers 1873 blizzard at annual celebration

The annual celebration of the old log church and museum for the Norway Lake Lutheran Historical Association drew one of its bigger crowds in recent years on Sunday, August 20, as the organization reflected on the 150-year anniversary of the deadly January 1873 blizzard that killed at least 84 adults and children in Minnesota.

Following the singing of the Star Spangled Banner and Norway's National Anthem, a play written by Norman Hande was performed by the old log church. Multiple songs were sung by the crowd, and a presentation by book author Carolyn Mankell-Sowinski was given on the blizzard's death toll.
