In the midst of a massive clean up effort, the city of Brooten looks vastly different over 36 hours past the wind and rain storm that hit the area during the final hour of Tuesday, July 26. At sunrise on Wednesday, July 26, nearly every block of town had trees down and electricity and communication cables damaged. Power was gradually restored by Xcel Energy crews to the entire town by 5 p.m. on Wednesday.
