Elrosa Saints clinch regular season division title

Saints host division playoff opener on Saturday, July 22

The Elrosa Saints amateur baseball team clinched the regular season division title for the 11th time in program history with a 3-2 walk-off win over New Munich on July 14. Blaine Fischer's RBI-single scored Will VanBeck from third base to earn the win in the bottom of the ninth.

The Saints and Silverstreaks both went 10-3 in the Stearns County League North, but Elrosa won the title by virtue of their series sweep over New Munich.

The Spring Hill Chargers went 9-4 in the SCL-North to take third place. Those three teams plus fourth-place Greenwald advance to this weekend's division playoffs, during which one of the four will be eliminated from region contention.

Next: the Saints (13-3-1 overall) host Greenwald in the SCL-North division playoff opener on Saturday, July 22 at 11 a.m. If the Saints beat the Cubs, they play in the division championship game the next day at noon in New Munich.

Additional coverage of the Elrosa Saints was published in the July 20 issue of the Bonanza Valley Voice newspaper. Video embedded in this web article features action from the bottom of the ninth inning on July 14 in Elrosa.
