B-B-E pursuing introducing CTE skills to primary grades

The Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa school board heard from the administration about the idea of introducing career and technical education (CTE) concepts into elementary school grades.

At Monday's (April 17) board meeting in the high school media center in Belgrade, Superintendent Patrick Walsh brought up the CTE school matrix and how to build CTE skills throughout the grade levels.

"We're starting to think in terms of CTE skills and what role they can play for students as early as preschool and kindergarten," said Walsh. "How can we put this into our programming"

The goal, according to Walsh, is to introduce age-appropriate concepts early enough in the primary grade levels so they are not challenging when students reach upper grade levels.
