Come to Sunburg THIS Sunday! Syttende Mai celebration all day (VIDEO)

Everyone is invited to the friendly town of Sunburg this coming Sunday, May 15 for the annual Syttende Mai celebration. The full schedule of events has been published in the April 28 and May 5 issues of the Bonanza Valley Voice newspaper. It also appeared in full-page format in the May 12 issue.

The day starts bright and early with a pancake breakfast at Hope Lutheran Church from 7:30 to 9 a.m. (adults $7, kids 5-12 are $4 and under 5 free) followed by a non-denominational church service at the church sanctuary. Norwegian goodies and coffee to follow the service, and fiddle music will be played in the narthex.

The antique tractor pull registration begins at 8:30 a.m., and the tractor pull driver's meeting at Glacial Plains Co-op is at 10:30 a.m. sharp. The antique and out-of-the-field tractor pull will run from 10:45 a.m. through 3:30 p.m. There are no bleachers provided, so spectators are asked to bring their own lawn chairs.

Fiddle playing will continue from 10:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at the shelter by Willie Reigstad baseball field. These players were part of the Sunburg Heritage Arts class held on April 3.

A multi-vendor boutique will be held at the school/community center building from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The Sunburg Trolls Car Club food stand will be running at Glacial Plains co-op from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the tractor pull site.

The Sunburg Trolls Car Club display will begin at 12 p.m. in downtown Sunburg.

The quilt to be raffled will be on display at the Sunburg Fire Hall/community center from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased before the event at Lake Region State Bank in Sunburg.

The Kultur Hus will be open in downtown Sunburg from noon to 4 p.m.

Fiddle playing will take place in front of the cafe building from 1 to 3 p.m.

The Sunburg Syttende Mai grand day parade starts at 3:30 p.m., so come early before that and get a good spot!

The Sunburg Firemen's supper at the community center/fire hall runs from 4 to 7 p.m. (hamburgers, beans and potato salad).

A kids pedal pull will be held behind the fire hall from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

The Sunburg Trolls Car Club raffle drawing for a pedal car and various prizes takes place at 5:30 p.m. at the fire hall.

The much-anticipated quilt raffle drawing takes place at 6 p.m.
