Event hosted at the historic Terrace Mill
The historic Terrace Mill was the site of the Native American Arts Festival during a sunny, windy afternoon on Saturday, May 19. Close to 150 people of all ages attended the celebration of the heritage of those who were here before us and still among us! The day included authentic Native art, food, performances and vendors. It was made possible by the voters of Minnesota through grants from the Lake Region Arts Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the Arts and Cultural Heritage fund.
Below is 19-plus minute video including a number of Honor Songs by members of the Hoka-Hey drum group of Minneapolis. They are national champion drum group who demonstrated a few songs they sing. James Spottedthunder talks about the group's background and heritage at around 1:40 into the video clip.
