The Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa speech team earned their second first-place team trophy of the season this past Saturday at the New London-Spicer meet. With just 11 members participating, the team was placed in the medium-school division. Results are as follows - Third-place winners: Alyssa Dalen (original oratory) and Austin Meyer (prose). Fourth-place winners: Riley Schumann (drama), Isaac Vliem (extemporaneous speaking) and Courtney Brandt (extemp. reading). Fifth-place winners: Austin Meyer (drama).
Honorable mention: Fabienne Verhoeff (creative); Nick Steinhofer (drama); Destiny Hopfer (humorous); Jesse Westaby (humorous). Competition continues for the speech team on Saturday, March 5 at Sauk Centre with a team breakfast prior to the meet.
