Math Masters is based upon research concerning the characteristics of mathematically gifted people, the traits of eminent mathematicians, and the achievement of girls and boys in math.
The purpose of the program is to challenge students to use higher-order thinking skills and problem-solving abilities in mathematics and to give recognition for academic effort and achievement! Math Masters demonstrates the idea that math can reinforce critical thinking skills and still be fun.
On Friday, March 4th, the 6th grade team will be competing in Parkers Prairie and on Friday, April 22nd, the 5th graders will be competing in Alexandria, MN. The teams will gather to compete as individuals and in teams. These challenges are the culmination of many months of preparation as team member's work to improve their math skills.
To remain on this team, the "Mathletes" need to practice with the coaches during the week and also will receive practice work that needs to be completed and returned to the coaches for Math Masters.
Miss Field and Mrs. Montbriand will be the Math Masters Coaches and are very excited about the 2015-2016 BBE Math Masters Team.
