The pool of money sponsors donate to the March Campaign is divided up amongst 300 participating food shelves depending on how much each food shelf raises in March. The Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa Area Food Shelf collected $18,547.55 and 1,025 pounds during the March 2018 Campaign. Last year, the March campaign collected $16,504 and 800 pounds. The Brooten Lanes is excited to host the annual Battle of the Businesses bowling tournament this Saturday, April 7 in downtown Brooten. The event will be held in honor of the late Rick Thonvold, who passed away in March 2016. A senior housing project proposed for Brooten this winter took another step forward at a community discussion held on March 8 at city hall.
