A terrific crowd turned out under magnificent blue sky and beautiful conditions for the final summer outdoor Concert in the Park in Belgrade on Wednesday, August 7. The general fund checking account of the Brooten Commercial Club saw its remaining balance zeroed out by the Minnesota Department of Revenue on July 17. The amount of money confiscated by the state was $3,902. These funds were what was left of the account that accepted local business member dues payments as well as organizations or entities such as the city of Brooten and the Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa school district. A packed house was on hand at the Brooten Pavilion on Saturday, July 13, for the Miss Brooten 2019-2020 pageant and coronation. As of Thursday, July 11, 2019, Brooten Bucks are no longer valid as a way to pay for goods or services from the 2018 business members of the Brooten Commercial Club. This stems from a bank-related order put into play on July 8 by the State of Minnesota stating that that all remaining funds in the general fund checking account of the Brooten Commercial Club will be seized. An 18-hole, six-person golf scramble will be held on Saturday, June 29 for the annual Gary Breitbach memorial golf tournament.
