The Belgrade Lions held their fourth annual chili cook-off contest on Saturday, March 15. Five teams submitted chili to the contest, and the team from Kensington Bank took first place. The Brooten Ambulance invites everyone to their annual spring pancake feed this Sunday, March 16 right on Central Avenue in Brooten. They will be hosted the pancake feed at the Bucky's Pickles, which is the former Brooten American Legion building. The all-you-can-eat pancakes will be served from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., and the price is just $10. Children ages 5 and under eat free. Bitter cold has gripped the Bonanza Valley area this week. During the first day of the month of February last Saturday, the Smilin' D Arena held the Wild Henke Youth Day, which was dubbed as a "day for kids" at the arena. On Saturday, December 7 in downtown Brooten, Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus arrived at Lucky Shots Bowling Alley to a full house of area children who were excited to meet them and talk about their Christmas wish list.
