  • Math Masters season is underway

    Walker Bents, Ashton Dingmann, Will Van Beck, Nate Walstrom, Kylie Winter and Hillary Prentice participated in the regional Math Masters of Minnesota Challenge on March 4 at Parkers Prairie. They are coached by Betty Montbriand and Janelle Field. A total of 105 students competed individually and as teams on eight sets of mathematical problems.     Every year the Central Minnesota Conference gives four Distinguished Service awards to individuals at the eight member schools who display outstanding volunteer service for activities offered by CMC schools. This year, Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa has one recipient of the award. Mr. Jerry Lindstrom started his local teaching career at Brooten high school in 1976 and served as an assistant varsity football coach as well as junior high girls' basketball coach while teaching junior high social studies....

    In a truly terrific and inspiring performance today at the 12th annual Eden Prairie Eagle Speech Invitational, the Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa speech team took first place honors in the Class 1A division.     The Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa speech team has a storied history and has been a force among area schools this entire century. Twice since 2012, B-B-E's state entrants in the Class 1A state speech meet have catapulted the team to a ranking of seventh based on their cumulative performances.   • School board approves 2016 local levy

    The Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa school board approved the fiscal year 2016 levy at Monday’s regular meeting at the high school. The local levy, which will help fund operations for the 2016-17 school year, is set to include a 7.74 percent increase from last year. The biggest source of the increase stems from the Long-Term Facility Revenue category of $107,630. This is a new funding stream approved by the state legislature.
