After extensive digging of section data at Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa, the following information was uncovered. It shows a comparison of the 2011-12 school year to the current school year. It shows that 22 classrooms were in use for K-6 regular education as well as the Jaguar Kids Connection in the 2011-2012 school year. (Today, the school has 20 rooms in use for those purposes.) The information also shows that the school building had approximately 50 to 55 more students in the building on any given school day (2011-12 compared to today)....
The Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa Class of 1996 held a 20th anniversary of graduation reunion on Saturday, August 20 in rural Elrosa at the home of classmates Kurt and Michelle (Gjerde) Herickhoff. Almost half of the surviving class attended. For 32 years, Brooten School District No. 737 and then Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa School No. 2364 has had the honor of having Brad Goodwin on its teaching and coaching staff. As the saying goes, all good things must come to an end. Staff and students at the Jaguar Kids Connection and Tri-Valley/Head Start programs, located at the Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa elementary school, held an Independence Day parade on Friday, July 1. They lined up at the elementary boulevard and traveled down the sidewalk on Highway 55 before turning north on Main Street. Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa Clay Trap team head coach Gary Rodgers with Sam Wosmek, a senior who was the team's best shot during the regular season. Wosmek won the Top Gun award on B-B-E's Clay Trap shooting team, which is nearing the culmination of the inaugural season. A total of 43 members out of the 47 graduating seniors of the Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa Class of 2016 participated in the annual ecumenical Baccalaureate service on Wednesday, May 25 at Big Grove Lutheran Church. Pastors from area churches gathered with the seniors to honor their faith and wish them well as they were about to graduate from high school just two nights later. As temperatures dropped during the grips of this past winter, the Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa school district rolled out its new portable hybrid ice shack and concession stand. The 27th annual graduating class of Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa schools held their annual commencement on Friday, May 27 at the high school gymnasium. Class valedictorian Alyssa Dalen and salutatorian Austin Trustheim gave senior speeches. Each year, Junior and Senior members of the FFA have the opportunity to apply for the highest degree awarded to a member in the State. As a 9th grader, members can attain their Greenhand Degree. Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa music students performed two spring concerts on May 4 (elementary) and May 9 (high school). On Wednesday, May 4, the B-B-E elementary fifth and sixth graders performed a band and choir concert. It featured the first public performances of the newly-formed fifth and sixth-grade Jazz Band. The Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa elementary sixth graders received spruce trees from the Belgrade Rosebud Garden Club last Friday. This has been an annual event for the club for the past 30 years. The Southwest Conservation District has been supplying the club with trees during these years and estimate that over 2,000 trees have been distributed to local sixth graders over that time. Twenty-nine local FFA'ers from B-B-E joined 3,565 other members of the Minnesota FFA which attended the 2016 State FFA Convention held April 24-26 at the University of Minnesota in St. Paul. Zach Schmitz, Zach Walz, Josie Kirckof, and Brady Lenarz made up BBE's Farm Management team that qualified to compete at State this year. The B-B-E fifth grade Math Masters competed at the regional competition in Alexandria on April 22 in a group totaling 176 students. Overall B-B-E's team took fourth place out of 38 teams. Four individuals from Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa in three categories earned spots in the Class 1A state finals at the state speech meet on April 15. These four plus four other teammates competed at the big show at Lakeville North high school. In second place was junior Molly Tengwall in storytelling. This is the second year in a row that she has earned a state medal. Last year she also took second place in that category. The annual Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa Prom is being held on Saturday, April 30. The dance will be held for the first time in school history at the Brooten Pavilion. The theme is "A Night to Remember", and Post-Prom will be held at the B-B-E elementary school. B-B-E was one of at least five area schools holding prom on this night. For the third year in a row, the Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa speech team claimed the Section 5A runner-up trophy. At Annandale for sections on April 9, B-B-E's team brought 10 speech students to compete for a berth in the Class 1A state meet. Out of those 10, eight will advance to the big show, which is April 15 at Lakeview North high school. Thursday, March 24th marked the end of the third quarter at Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa elementary and the unveiling of the school's quarterly Jaguar PRIDE winners. A host of changes are coming to the programming and curriculum of Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa for the 2016-2017 school year. For students in grades 7-12, the changes are meant to expand offerings. In 11th and 12th grade, the changes should make scheduling easier with more electives available. “It’s great to have this conversation without the ‘what should we eliminate’ as part of it,” said Superintendent Matt Bullard at the school board meeting on March 21.
