Following the graduation ceremony for the Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa Class of 2021, a marvelous fireworks show was on full display at eastern side of the high school athletic complex. Graduation was held on Friday, May 14 at the high school gymnasium. Smiles were abundant the entire evening! It was wonderful. Fireworks video is below....
The Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa Jaguars fastpitch team won a back-and-forth contest on the home field on Tuesday this week over Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City. After trailing 6-2 heading into the bottom of the second inning, the Jaguars won 17-7 in six innings. On Monday this week in another home game, the Jaguars lost 9-2 to undefeated Browerville. A sentencing hearing of July 12 is set for Travis Ryks, 36, of Brooten, after he pleaded guilty in Renville County District Court on Wednesday, May 5 on a charge of felony second-degree criminal sexual conduct for allegedly having sexual contact with a child younger than 13. The case was initially charged in May 2019 before multiple postponements and cancellations pushed it into 2021.
