  • Jaguar football wins playoff opener

    The Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa Jaguars advanced in the Section 4A football playoffs after they defeated visiting Long Prairie-Grey Eagle by a 36-8 score on Tuesday. The Jaguars, who led 22-6 at halftime, are now 6-3 overall going into the section semifinals. This is their first playoff win since 2017, and it's their fifth Section 4A semifinal birth since 2010.   • Brooten City council hears of RV park proposal

    The Brooten city council heard a proposal by Gary Skarpness to develop a five-spot R.V. park at the former gas station across Highway 55 from Rooster's Bottle Shop. Skarpness addressed the council at the Monday (October 25) meeting. Skarpness told the council that the five spots would have water, sewer and electrical hook-ups. This represents a 30 percent decline in new cases compared to the previous week, when the local zip codes posted a 20.     Late in the afternoon of Monday, November 1, law enforcement personnel were able to take into custody an individual who allegedly had stabbed another person this morning.     The Section 4A football seedings have gone official. The rankings are out, and the pairings are set for the Tuesday, October 26 playoff openers. The Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa Jaguars football team has earned the No. 2 playoff seed in Section 4A. This is a huge achievement for the team.
