The Kandiyohi County Fair in Willmar is off to a terrific start, running from August 11 through Saturday night, August 14 along Foot Lake in Willmar. The Belgrade August Fest had a terrific start to the three-day celebration this weekend. The evening was picture-perfect with mild summer temperatures, hardly any wind to speak of plus an overwhelming turnout of people of all ages. The Belgrade Fire Department and Rescue Squad hosted a chicken barbeque supper on Friday, August 13 at the Belgrade V.F.W. Post No. 1825. The turnout was remarkable with over 600 meals served. Based on what I've heard from subscribers in Paynesville and Elrosa, the St. Cloud bundle of the August 12 issue of the Bonanza Valley Voice has gone missing. I don't know where it's been lost in the Post Office system, but I have a hunch something went wrong in the St. Cloud Post Office plant. It's very upsetting considering that it was full of timely Belgrade August Fest news. *Update on Monday: it appears that the bundle was located! Those missing issues should be delivered today....

All good things must come to an end, and in Brooten, a good thing lasting over two months has ended. New Miss Brooten royalty has been crowned for 2021-2022 after the pageant and coronation was held on Saturday, July 10 at the Brooten Pavilion.
