A special event in honor of the late Rick Thonvold takes place every summer during Bonanza Valley Days in Brooten. The Rick Thonvold Kids Pedal Pull is at 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 11 on Main Street; the set up is in front of the KaDe Shack. The contest features divisions for children ages 5 to 11, who can all qualify for the state pedal pull contest in Hutchinson.
