Former Brooten Buccaneers coach passed away on March 29
Joseph Anton Traen, "Joe" age 59 of Watertown, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 29, 2017. He was born January 27, 1958 to Lawrence and Rose Adelle (Gregoire) Traen in Canby, Minnesota.
Joe graduated from Canby High School in 1976. He went onto Willmar Community College and eventually graduating from St. Cloud State University. Joe wrestled throughout his school career. He achieved a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education and a Master's Degree in general education. He continued his passion for wrestling into his professional career by being a coach and mentor.
Joe was kind hearted, hardworking and dedicated in everything he did. He touched countless lives through teaching and coaching. He exuded a quiet confidence along with being known as a reliable and competitive individual. His hobbies outside of the school consisted of anything with the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle. The main love of his life was his family.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents Lawrence and Rose Adelle Traen. He is survived by his wife Deb of 27 years; sons Adam and Andy; siblings Kathy (Dick) Duis, James (Sarah) Traen, Mary (Wayne) Sirie, Mike (Diane) Traen, Marie (Joe) Morelli, DeAnn (Paul) Wilmes.
Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at the Watertown Mayer High School Gymnasium. Gathering of family and friends will take place from 3 to 6 p.m. in the gym prior to the Mass. Memorials preferred.
